Learning with the World
From July 12-17, some of the members of the Dreamteam mparticipated in the International Education and Resource Network Youth Summit that was organized by Taking IT Global. It was so exciting to meet people from all over the world and also be able to share our collaborative projects with teachers and friends.
If you want to see some of the great activities, please watch the video that was shown at closing ceremonies:

This wonderful poem by the British children’s author Kit Wright served as an inspiration for our collaborative poem about our video-conference connection:THE MAGIC BOX, by Kit Wright
I will put in the box
the swish of a silk sari on a summer night,
fire from the nostrils of a Chinese dragon,
the tip of a tongue touching a tooth.I will put in the box
a snowman with a rumbling belly
a sip of the bluest water from Lake Lucerene,
a leaping spark from an electric fish.I will put into the box
three violet wishes spoken in Gujarati,
the last joke of an ancient uncle,
and the first smile of a baby.I will put into the box
a fifth season and a black sun,
a cowboy on a broomstick
and a witch on a white horse. My box is fashioned from ice and gold and steel,
with stars on the lid and secrets in the corners.
Its hinges are the toe joints of dinosaurs.I shall surf in my box
on the great high-rolling breakers of the wild Atlantic,
then wash ashore on a yellow beach
the colour of the sun.
A poem created by students from the W.H. Day Elementary School and 6G, Hillingdon Primary School (you notice the alliteration?)
We will put into the box
The sound of our two nations singing our anthems,
Our fluttering flags together,
A chest full of charming chocolate.
Our box is made of silky string spun by spiders,
With the feathers from the loon
And the glistening crown jewels.
We shall fly in our box to a magic place where
Friends chat in cyber space.
…and one more:
I will put into our box
The chiming of Big Ben on a summer’s day,
the navy & white of our smart school uniforms,
red & white treasures in the box from Canada.
I will put into our box
Smooth, creamy, delicious mouthwatering chocolate,
Golden, gooey, sticky sweet Maple syrup.
Our box is made from
Swift shiny hockey sticks and rich Maple wood,
The clasp is filled with glittering golden nuggets.
We shall sail in our box
Taking a luxury cruise to meet each other,
On the mystical Blue Nose,
Across the deep blue Atlantic Ocean
Paddington Bear from London travelled with Mrs. Bickley to Winnipeg this week. He noticed that there were polar bears all over the city and wanted to share those with his friends in Ontario and in London. Here are some views of Paddington in Winnipeg.

This week, the Dreamteam joined thousands of other students worldwide to spread their wishes of peace to the world. We all wrote a quote about what peace means to us and decorated our kites.
Please watch our video about this special day.
Thank you to our dear friend Ruty who brought us this project and the message of peace and freedom for all children.
We had a really busy week! Listen to our podcast and hear about all the really cool things we did!
The Dreamteam will be following another exciting event in North America. On Saturday March 6, the Iditarod race will be starting in Anchorage Alaska. We will be following 2 mushers and their teams as they travel over 1000 miles through Alaska.
We are following Newton Marshall from Jamaica and Hank Debruin from Canada.
We created a map to keep track of their progress. We will be following their progress on their blogs and also on Twitter.
Here are some great sites that will help us follow the progress and the excitement of the race.
